Najczęściej cytowane polskie publikacje ostatniego dziesięciolecia w poszczególnych dziedzinach nauk biologicznych i medycznych.

W tej części przedstawię dane na temat najczęściej cytowanych prac z medycyny klinicznej. Publikacje z dziedziny psychiatrii, które w klasyfikacji ISI stanowią odrębną dziedzinę nauki, zostały włączone do medycyny klinicznej ze względu na to, że w tej dziedzinie na liście często cytowanych publikacji znalazły się pojedyncze prace. Odkrycie związku helicobakter pylori z chorobą wrzodową może być zaliczone do tej dyscypliny nauki i zostało uhonorowane Nagrodą Nobla w roku 2005 (Marschall i Warren).

By znaleźć się na liście najczęściej cytowanych, praca musiała zostać opublikowana w czasopiśmie związanym z medycyną kliniczną bądź autor powinien być zatrudniony w instytucji związanej z medycyną kliniczną, ewentualnie termin „medycyna kliniczna” musiał się pojawić w słowach kluczowych. Czterdzieści cytowań było liczbą przyjętą arbitralnie, wymaganą, by publikacja znalazła się na liście. Drugim warunkiem umieszczenia publikacji na liście była afiliacja autora z krajową instytucją naukową, ponadto praca musiała się zaliczać do opracowań oryginalnych. Zidentyfikowano 69 takich publikacji, co stanowiło około 20 proc. wszystkich polskich prac cytowanych ponad 40 razy. W dziedzinie medycyny klinicznej przeciętna liczba cytowań jednej publikacji wynosi dla Polski 5,37, graniczna wartość 40 cytowań przewyższa tę średnią około 8 razy.

Piętnaście wysoko cytowanych prac (co stanowi ok. 21 proc. całości) pochodzi z Collegium Medicum UJ, 14 prac (20 proc.) powstało w Akademii Medycznej w Warszawie, Uniwersytet Medyczny w Łodzi ma 8 publikacji (11,5 proc.), Śląska AM 5 prac, po 4 prace opublikowały Centrum Medycyny Podyplomowej (Warszawa) oraz AM w Gdańsku, po 3 publikacje mają Uniwersytet Medyczny w Bydgoszczy, Instytut Gruźlicy w Warszawie, AM w Poznaniu oraz Instytut Kardiologii w Warszawie. W sumie 52 publikacje powstały w placówkach uczelnianych, 1 w PAN, 20 w instytutach resortowych, a 4 w szpitalach nieklinicznych. Geograficznie: 27 prac powstało w Warszawie, 18 w Krakowie, 8 w Łodzi, 5 w Katowicach, po 3 pochodzą z Wrocławia, Gliwic i Białegostoku.

Naukowcy, którzy opublikowali najwięcej takich prac, to: Andrzej Szczeklik (CMUJ) 10 publikacji, po 7 prac mają: Ewa Niżankowska (CMUJ) oraz Anna Płużańska (UMed. w Łodzi), Stefania Jabłońska (AM Warszawa) ma 4 prace. Po 3 prace opublikowali: Michał Tendera oraz Zygmunt Sadowski (AM Warszawa), Krzysztof Składkowski i Bogusław Maciejewski (Centrum Onkologii, Gliwice) oraz Jacek Musiał i Marek Zembala (CMUJ). Po 2 publikacje mają: Leszek Ceremuzyński (Centrum Medycyny Podyplomowej, Warszawa), Antoni Gabryelewicz (AM Białystok), Jacek Jassem (AM Gdańsk), Stanisław Konturek (CMUJ), Jerzy Kuch (AM Warszawa), Piotr Ponikowski i Krzysztof Wrabec (AM Wrocław), Witold Rużyłło (Instytut Kardiologii, Warszawa) oraz Witold Zatoński (Centrum Onkologii, Warszawa).

Największa liczba wysoko cytowanych publikacji dotyczyła chorób nowotworowych (19), chorób układu krążenia (18), astmy (9) oraz gastroenterologii i dermatologii (po 4). Najczęściej cytowane prace (o numerach 39, 36, 23, 48) miały kolejno: 616, 302, 251 i 245 odnośników. Dotyczyły one badań nad lekami w chorobach układu krążenia (2 prace) oraz chorób nowotworowych i dermatologii (po 1 pracy). Wszystkie te publikacje to typowe prace kliniczne, przeprowadzane równolegle w kilkunastu różnych ośrodkach na świecie, w związku z tym wieloautorskie. Dwie pochodzą z AM w Warszawie, jedna z Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi i jedna ze Śląskiej Akademii Medycznej. Praca nr 39 ze współautorstwem Michała Tendery to zarazem najczęściej cytowana publikacja ostatniego dziesięciolecia spośród wszystkich dziedzin nauk biologiczno−medycznych. Przeciętna liczba cytowań prac umieszczonych na liście wynosiła 96, co przekracza średnią krajową 17,8 razy. Jednak aż 42 z tych prac (to jest 61 proc.) powstały przy znaczącym lub dominującym udziale partnerów zagranicznych. Niektóre poniższe publikacje znajdą się również na listach często cytowanych prac w innych dyscyplinach nauki. Lista publikacji zamieszczona jest poniżej, liczbę cytowań umieszczono na końcu danych dotyczących publikacji.
